Sustainability and Green Building!

Date: Tuesday, January 9, 2024

Join us for our first program of 2024 by looking at the past and peering into the future for sustainability and green building here in the 'Burgh. Leslie Montgomery, Vice President of Education & Communications at Green Building Alliance (GBA) and LEED AP BD+C will review the history of the GBA (they just celebrated their 30th anniversary!!), where we stand now as a design and construction community and where we might be headed.
Pittsburgh has been at the forefront of the green building movement thanks to GBA and other champions in the AEC industry. At one time we were one the leaders in having the most LEED buildings in the country. Pittsburgh was one of the first cities to track carbon emissions of buildings with the Pittsburgh 2030 District. With GBA receiving a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission for the Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Communities, GBA will forge an economic hub for a green building supply chain in our region. If you want to know where our region stands in regard to sustainability and green buildings come to our meeting.
